Budding Artist
Contest Date: Dec 22nd Sunday 2 PM
Theme: Flower
Any flower/flowers with good shades of colors & shadows based on the light source.

Wild Artist
Contest Date: Dec 22nd Sunday 5 PM
Theme: Still Life
A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which are either natural (food, flowers, plants, rocks, shells, etc.) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, etc.).
The winner is chosen based on the originality & choice of colors. Originality is important because people only buy original pieces (an artwork which has an original idea and not copied exactly the same as another artwork). One winner from each category is chosen.
The artwork of one prize winner will be displayed at the renowned Blick store for a month in Shadyside. It will be kept for sale in this popular store where hundreds of people walk in within Pittsburgh and from various other states (All sales goes to the student, no percentage taken from the sales). Visitors can go and view the picture displayed at the store. The students can keep their contact for customers to contact them for future pictures.
Another prize winner’s artwork will be made into a keepsake (teddy bear or t-shirt) to keep.
Students can practice well at home and paint in the studio. Any medium chosen by the kid will be provided by the studio. 11*14 size canvas will be provided for everyone.
Guidance can be provided in creating a great art.
This is a rare opportunity for the kids to showcase their artwork to the outside world. This also provides a stage to meet other renowned artists and get contacts from galleries.
All the kids artwork will be hand-drawn as a greeting card on Dec 21st, Saturday in the regular class and given to grandpa and grandma in Marion Manor Nursing home (located in Green tree road) for Christmas! This will be a good practice for the contest happening next day and will also bring smiles for the grandpas and grandmas.
I will be delivering all the kids’ hand-made work in person before Christmas. So, if any kid wants to give their cards in-person, they are welcome. That will make the senior citizens very happy.
The regular classes on Dec 7th and Dec 14th will be focused on contest theme. So, please don’t miss the classes.
Good luck with the practice and all the very best to the kids!!
